Fratelli Tallia di Delfino weaves in Strona, a village in the Biella hills, where the mill has stood on the same site for more than a century. The business traces its start to 1903, and in 1921 the founder's sons put their name on the door, establishing the company as traders in fine cloth. Production still happens entirely in Strona.

The place matters. The Strona river runs particularly low in calcium, and the mill prizes that soft water for its special purity. The fibre arrives from further afield: fine Australian wool, Mongolian cashmere, silk blends and South African mohair. Since 2008 the house has sat within the Marzotto Group, and the address has not changed.

The house style is a soft, round hand in fine worsteds. The cloth feels gentler than its weight suggests, and it drapes rather than stands, which suits clients who find crisp English suiting a little stern.
