Worn where only you can see it

A lining is the one part of a suit nobody else sees. That makes it the only place on a garment where you can put something purely for yourself, which is a stranger and better idea than it first appears.

Hayden Hamilton's paintings

Some of the earliest people to believe in this business were not clients. They were friends who trusted us with something they would not have handed to anyone else. Hayden Hamilton was one of them: a painter first, a friend of the house since our earliest days, working in oil and canvas long before he ever stepped into a fitting room.

This year we brought him back, not as the man wearing the cloth but as the artist behind it. Six looks, six garments, built the way we build everything. Then you turn back the lapel.

Hayden's own paintings are reproduced as the inner lining of every jacket. Brushstrokes nobody else will ever see, except him. A private gallery, worn against the skin.

It is the kind of thing that only happens with an old friend, where the tailoring becomes a frame and the man wearing it becomes the exhibit.

Tim Tszyu's gloves

The same idea arrived from a completely different direction. Tim Tszyu came through ahead of a big night out, not a fight, and wanted a suit built the way everything else in his corner is built: precise, considered, nothing wasted.

When it came to the lining there was only one call. A boxing lining, stitched into his own jacket, gloves up and ready for the bell, worn where only he will ever see it.

The Sportsman collection

Those two jackets are why we have put together a limited run of inner linings around sport. The teams people grew up cheering. The silhouettes everyone recognises. The players still being argued about in pubs. All of it stitched where only the wearer will find it.

If you have a team, a player or a particular moment in mind, tell us and we will make it. That is the part that makes this worth doing: the lining is the one decision in a suit that does not have to make sense to anyone but you.
