Solbiati, for the summer uniform
The piece we keep coming back to is a three piece cut from the finest linen woven by Solbiati, an Italian mill. A three piece in linen sounds like a contradiction and is not: the weight is low enough that the waistcoat costs you nothing, and the structure is what stops linen reading as rumpled.
Wear it with loafers and a pair of sunglasses. That is the whole outfit, and it is the lightest thing you can put on and still be the best dressed man at lunch.
Dormeuil, for the investment
The other cloth on the table is a deep merlot wool from Dormeuil's Millenial collection, and it is a different proposition entirely. It is ethically sourced, crease resistant and built to last, which are the three things you want from a suit you intend to own for a decade rather than a season.
A merlot suit turns heads in a way navy never will. It is also more wearable than people assume, because the depth of the colour keeps it formal.
