Charcoal striped trousers in wool with 3% Lycra, which gives the knee and seat a little stretch. The stripe is the classic formal kind, and the charcoal reads softer than black in daylight.
Cut flat across the front with no belt loops, so the waist is clean and does its work without a belt. The waistband closes on a hook with no extension and has a soft inner band. The back pockets are besom, each with a button. Wear them with a white shirt and black shoes. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
