Ivory trousers in a heavy stretch cotton from Vercelli, 320 grams to the metre. Ivory is white with the glare taken out, and against tan, navy or a faded blue it is the easier of the two to wear. The Lycra in the blend means the cloth recovers after a day of sitting.
Flat front and no pressed crease. The fly closes on a metal zip behind a straight fly, the waistband on a single button without an extension. Front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, besom back pockets with a button, and a fixed hem topstitched at 2 cm. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
