Yellow cotton trousers, a soft warm yellow rather than a bright one, in a plain cotton at 206 grams to the metre. Worn with white, navy or olive, the colour is a lift rather than a shout. Summer trousers with a bit of nerve.
Double pleats fold toward the side seam, 2.5 cm deep, for a fuller front in the older style. A 4 cm waistband closes on a hook with no extension and carries belt loops. Front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, besom back pockets with a button, and a deep 6.4 cm hem that gives the light cloth a proper stop at the shoe. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
