Warm-weather suitings and linen blends

Jorge Carli is a cloth label rather than a mill with a valley and a founding date, and we would rather say so than borrow a history. The label is registered in Britain and sold internationally through agents. You will find it in made-to-measure books in the United States and Asia, often in the same books as houses such as Vitale Barberis Canonico.

The brand does not publish which mills weave its cloth, where its wool is grown or any certifications, so we make no claims for it on that front. What it offers is practical cloth at a fair price, with a strong line in warm-weather suiting, linen blends and stretch wool.

That is how it earned its place with us. The Bombay Blue Linen Blend Suit is cut from a Jorge Carli blend of wool, linen and silk: the wool keeps the structure, the linen brings texture and air, and the silk softens the hand. It breathes on a hot day and resists the deep creasing of pure linen, which suits a Sydney summer.

In the Everyday Archive, Jorge Carli wool gives the Orange Wool Jacket its body: a 290-gram stretch wool in a deep, burnt orange, cut unstructured so it moves with you. The two pairs of White Wool Trousers use a 280-gram white wool that is opaque where white cotton is not, and hangs where cotton clings.

Every garment is made to measure in Sydney. The Jorge Carli selection rotates with the seasons, so ask to see the current lengths at your fitting, laid over a shoulder in daylight, which is how cloth should be chosen anyway.
