Black wool trousers at 380 grams to the metre, the heaviest black in the archive. At this weight black wool has depth rather than shine, and the single deep pleat, 4.4 cm toward the side seam, lets the cloth fall in a straight column from a narrow 3.5 cm waistband.
The waistband has a rounded front closing on a hook and a button; the back carries a V split so the seat can be let out later. Evening trousers for a black jacket or a dark knit, in a cloth built for winter. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
