Stretch wool at 310 grams to the metre, in khaki, with a 5 cm waistband and the full complement of pockets: front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, a watch pocket at the right, and besom back pockets with a button. The wider waistband sits the trousers a little higher and keeps a shirt tucked.
Straight fly and a V split at the back of the waist so the seat can be altered later. Khaki wool is the colour of a good pair of trousers for a tweed jacket or a navy blazer. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
