White cotton trousers cut along the lines of a five-pocket jean: rounded front pockets and pointed patch pockets at the back, in a stretch cotton at 240 grams to the metre. They sit between a jean and a chino, and in white they are a summer trouser first.
Flat front with no pressed crease, a metal zip behind a straight fly, and a waistband that closes on a single button with no extension. The hem is fixed and topstitched at 2 cm. White with navy or with faded denim blue; either way, keep the shoes simple. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
