Coffee herringbone in pure wool, 385 grams to the metre. Up close the herringbone is clear; from a few paces it settles into a warm, muted brown. Trousers for autumn and winter, at home with cream, navy and grey.
Double pleats fold toward the side seam, 4.4 cm deep, for a relaxed line with real room through the thigh. The 4 cm waistband fastens on two hooks under a small square extension with rounded corners, is finished inside with lining piping, and carries belt loops. Front pockets slant at 3.2 cm, the back pockets have a pointed diamond flap with a button, and there is no coin pocket. Unlined. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
