2025 in tailoring

Year in review, one

The December newsletter called it a year measured in stitches, silhouettes and dangerously good looking clients, which is about right.

Two halves to this one. What we did, and what the rest of you turned out to be wearing while we did it.

Where we showed

Two fashion weeks in ten days, on opposite sides of the world.

Centrestage came first, 3 to 6 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It is the HKTDC's annual fashion event and the shortest route there is into the Asian market: this edition ran about 260 brands from 25 countries in front of more than 10,000 trade buyers from 91 countries, up from 8,500 the year before, with thirty runway shows across the four days. For a Sydney house, that is an audience you cannot build at home.

Then New York. We were back at New York Fashion Week from 11 to 16 September for the Spring/Summer 2026 season, on an official schedule carrying more than sixty shows and presentations. Going once is a trip. Going back is a decision, and it is the one that has done the most for how this business gets read outside Australia.

Where we launched

We exhibited at London Tech Week in June for Neuono, our sister brand in the THDR Group, and launched it on the opening day. The week ran 9 to 13 June at Olympia and drew more than 45,000 people from 90 countries.

Neuono has been described as the world's first AI led fashion label. You upload a selfie, type what you need, and it generates the garment instead of pulling one off a rail. A body scan then cuts it to you. Since London it has been on Sunrise and covered by Forbes Australia.

The measurement work underneath it is the same work that sits under everything we cut here, which is why a tailoring house was on a stand at a technology show at all.

Where we talked

Three more, and the list says something about where this business actually sits. Business Inside the Game during NBA All-Star Week in San Francisco. Tech Arena in Stockholm. Web Summit in Doha.

A tailoring house does not normally end up at four technology events in one year. That is the group we are a part of, and it is the reason the measurement side of what we do keeps improving.

What you actually wore

The other half of a year in this business is the pattern you only see from above it: the things hundreds of people asked for separately, without ever comparing notes. Four cards, pulled from a year of order sheets.
