Swiss two-fold shirting cotton

Alumo has been weaving in Switzerland since 1918, when Carl Albrecht founded the Albrecht weaving mill in Grüningen with 48 looms. Today the house works from Herisau, in the Appenzell region, hills that have long been home to the Swiss textile trade.

The focus narrowed to fine cotton shirting in the 1950s and has stayed there since. The mill weaves more than a million metres a year, keeps over 400 designs permanently in stock, and supplies shirtmakers and clothing houses in more than 50 countries. The cloth is built on fine two-fold yarns: two threads twisted together before weaving, which gives a light fabric real strength.

That construction is what you feel. Alumo shirting has a dry, clean touch and a smooth, even face that survives years of laundering. Collars keep their line. The cloth presses crisply and stays that way past lunchtime.
