Marzoni
Coatings and cold-weather cloth in colour and pattern
Marzoni is a cloth label, not a mill with a village and a founding year to its name, and we would sooner tell you so than lend it a history. The label says its cloth is produced in Italy.
Marzoni is known for its look books. Each season brings hundreds of designs, and their strength is colour and pattern: checks, stripes and textures that take a commission somewhere beyond plain navy and grey.
We judge every cloth the same way, by how it behaves on the table and on the body, and Marzoni earned its place with one garment in particular. The Brown Street Revival Sweeping Coat is cut from a Marzoni check in wool and silk. Much of a long coat's character is in the hem: the cloth has to swing as you walk and settle when you stop, with enough body to hold its line and enough softness to sit close at the collar. This one does both. The silk lifts the brown, and the check is scaled to read well over a calf-length coat.
Marzoni lengths sit in the part of our library that changes with the seasons. The Brown Street Revival Sweeping Coat is made to measure, and if a coat or a patterned suit is on your mind, ask at your fitting which Marzoni cloths are in the current bunch.
