Black trousers in a plain polyester at 235 grams to the metre. Black is the colour that shows every crease and every speck, and this cloth shows neither, which is why it earns a place next to the wool pair. Wear them with a black knit and the outfit is done.
Flat front, no pressed crease. The fly closes on a metal zip behind a straight fly; the waistband on one button without an extension. Front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, besom back pockets with a button, and a fixed hem topstitched at 2 cm. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
