Brown cotton trousers at 258 grams to the metre, a middle weight that works from autumn through to spring. Nearly all cotton, with a little spandex, so the cloth is dry and matte with a small amount of stretch through the seat and knee. The brown is the colour of wet sand: warm, and easy under navy, grey and cream.
Flat front, no pressed crease. Metal zip behind a straight fly, a single-button waistband without an extension, front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm and besom back pockets with a button. The hem is fixed with a 2 cm topstitch. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
