A long-sleeved polo in a dark brown piqué knit, a brown deep enough to pass for black until the light catches it. The cloth is 40% wool, 40% viscose and 20% polyamide, 175 to 185 grams to the metre: the wool for warmth and breathability, the polyamide for a knit that wears harder and creases less than wool alone. It has more structure than a cotton polo.
In place of a turn-down collar it has a stand collar, topstitched along the edge, above a four-button placket 2 cm wide, with the top button just under the collar. The cuffs are interlined, 6 cm deep, rounded and closed with one button. Plain back, no pocket, and a straight hem with no side vents, finished with a double row of stitching. Wear it buttoned up under a jacket where a shirt and tie would be too much, or open at the neck with grey flannels. Cut to your measurements.
