Coffee brown shorts in a wool, silk and linen cloth at 265 grams to the metre: the classic summer suiting mix, with the linen for a dry hand, the silk for a low sheen and the wool for the fall. Worn without a pressed crease. A deep brown that suits white, cream and pale blue.
A single box pleat at the centre of each front, 2 cm deep, a narrow 3.5 cm waistband closing on a hook with no extension, front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, besom back pockets with a button and a straight fly. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
