Double pleats toward the side seam on grey wool trousers at 280 grams to the metre, 4.4 cm deep, under a 5 cm waistband. The front is half-lined with the pocket bags outside the lining, which is why a pleated wool trouser hangs straight after a day of sitting.
Front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, two open back pockets, straight fly. Mid grey in a three-season weight, for every jacket in the wardrobe and for the days without one. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
