Lilac wool shorts at 285 grams to the metre, a soft, greyed purple that behaves like a pale neutral against white, navy and grey. In wool the colour has depth, and the cloth hangs from the waist instead of clinging.
A single box pleat at the centre of each front, 3.2 cm deep, an extended waistband closing on a button, and two open back pockets. Tailored shorts for the summer months, with a shirt rather than a tee. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
