Very light polyester, 145 grams to the metre, in navy, which is about the least a trouser cloth can weigh and still hang properly. They are the pair for the hottest week of the year, or a city where every day is that week.
A single pleat folds toward the side seam, 2 cm deep, which is what keeps a cloth this light from clinging. The 4 cm waistband closes on a hook with no extension. Straight fly, front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, welted back pockets with a button, and a 5 cm hem. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
