Navy shorts in a wool cloth with linen and a little silk, 350 grams to the metre, the heaviest cloth among the shorts and the one with the most drape. Cut in the high, full line: double pleats toward the side seam at 2.5 cm and a wide 6 cm waistband that sits the shorts higher and longer.
Welted back pockets left plain. Navy shorts of this kind belong with a white shirt and a woven belt. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
