Olive cotton trousers, an army green, in a stretch cotton from Aiviti at 280 grams to the metre. Olive cotton is the most useful casual trouser after navy: it takes white, cream, grey and denim, and hides a day's wear.
Flat front, front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, a welted watch pocket on the right and a straight fly. The Lycra in the blend keeps the knee from bagging. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
