Cut like a jean, in white cotton: rounded front pockets, pointed patch pockets at the back, a metal zip and a fixed hem topstitched at 2 cm, in a stretch cotton at 278 grams to the metre. The weight is the difference between these and a summer chino; they hold a line.
Flat front, no pressed crease, and a waistband on a single button with no extension. White with a navy knit, or with denim if the denim is dark enough. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
