Heavy blue wool with linen and silk, 355 grams to the metre, cut as a casual jacket with a small lapel that sits close to the neck. The linen gives the surface a dry texture, the silk a low sheen, and the weight means this is a cold-weather jacket in a colour usually kept for summer.
No chest canvas and an unpadded natural shoulder. Blue over grey flannel or cream cord, with a knit underneath. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
