Brown striped linen shorts, 216 grams to the metre, with a single deep pleat toward the side seam at 3.2 cm that gives the front room and lets the linen fall. The stripe is fine and tonal on a warm brown ground.
Front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, welted back pockets left plain, and a 4.5 cm waistband with a squared extension that closes on four hooks. Linen shorts for real heat, with a plain shirt. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
