Mid grey, in wool, cashmere and silk at 380 grams to the metre. The weight says winter; the cashmere and silk say the cloth will be soft against the leg and hold a low sheen where a plain worsted goes flat. Grey is the most useful of all trouser colours.
A single deep pleat toward the side seam, 4.4 cm, front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, a welted watch pocket on the right and a straight fly. A winter trouser for a navy jacket and a brown shoe. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
