Khaki wool trousers at 335 grams to the metre, a cold-weather weight with Lycra in the blend so the cloth recovers at the knee and seat. Khaki in wool rather than cotton is a quieter, richer colour and takes a press. It wears with navy, brown and bottle green.
One deep box pleat at the centre of each front, 3.2 cm, for ease through the thigh with a symmetrical front. An extended waistband closes on a button, and there are two open back pockets. A trouser for a tweed or flannel jacket. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
