Navy polyester trousers, 235 grams to the metre, for anyone who has had a navy wool trouser go shiny at the seat and does not want to do it again. The cloth holds its colour and its shape, and the navy is dark enough to pass at a dinner.
Flat front and no pressed crease. Metal zip behind a straight fly, a single-button waistband with no extension, front pockets on a 3.2 cm slant, besom back pockets with a button, and a fixed hem topstitched at 2 cm. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
