Navy striped trench coat in a Vitale Barberis Canonico wool at 260 grams to the metre. The trench coat's pattern in a fine chalk-striped suiting rather than gabardine, which turns a raincoat into a light spring and autumn coat with the stripe running the length of it. Cloth from one of the great Biella houses.
Made without a chest canvas, so it hangs soft and moves with you. Navy over grey or over the archive's cream trousers. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
