White wool jacket in a Reda worsted at 290 grams to the metre, double-breasted with four buttons fastening on one. A white double-breasted jacket is a summer-evening piece, and in wool rather than linen it holds its shape from the first drink to the last.
Half canvas, so the chest and lapel have structure without weight, and the fronts hold their line when the jacket is worn open. Over navy or black trousers, with an open shirt. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
