Hemp and cotton, 55 to 45, woven at 190 grams to the metre and dyed a mid blue. Hemp is a cousin of linen with a firmer hand: it breathes the same way, creases less, and softens with every wash. The blue is a mid tone, a little dusty, that sits well with white and with sand.
Cut like a jean at the pockets, with rounded front pockets and back pockets finished with a double row of topstitching at the edge. Flat front, no pressed crease, belt loops, a straight fly and a button waistband with no extension. The hem is fixed and topstitched at 2.5 cm. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
