Brown trousers in pure wool, 380 grams to the metre: a dense, heavy cloth with a good drape. A weight for the cold months and for business dress.
A single pleat folds toward the side seam, 2.5 cm deep, and the front pockets sit on a 3.2 cm slant, left clean without topstitching. The 4 cm waistband closes on a button with no extension, with belt loops set just below the top edge and a gripper strip inside to keep a shirt tucked. There is a watch pocket on the left and a coin pocket on the right, and the back pockets are double besom without buttons. Unlined, with a plain 5 cm hem. Wear them under a navy or grey jacket with dark shoes. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
