Navy trousers in pure wool of real weight, 430 grams to the metre, so the leg hangs straight and the cloth drapes rather than clings. The navy is very dark, close to midnight, and plain enough to wear with a tweed jacket or a grey knit without competing.
A single pleat folds toward the side seam, 4.4 cm deep. The 4.5 cm waistband runs into a rounded extended tab that closes on two buttons and two hooks. There is one belt loop only, set 2 cm from the front on the right, so this is a waist meant to be worn without a belt. The fronts are lined, the front pockets are edged with 0.6 cm pick stitching, and the back pockets are double-jetted and left without a button. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
