Taupe trousers in a plain, pure wool cloth. Taupe sits between grey and brown: darker and cooler than khaki, softer than a true brown, and easy beside navy, cream and mid grey.
A single pleat each side folds toward the side seam. The first belt loop at the front on each side is a broader loop finished with a button; the rest are ordinary loops. The waistband runs across the front only, and at the back the waist is cut in one with the trousers, so there is no seam across the back of the waist. The waistband closes on a hook with no extension, above a pointed fly. The front pockets sit in the side seams, and the back pockets are knife-shaped and close on a button. Wear with a navy jacket, or a cream knit and brown shoes. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
