THDR POCKET TAILOR

Measure for a suit with your phone

THDR Pocket Tailor is our free app for iPhone and Android. Scan yourself at home, get a measurement code, and order suits, shirts and trousers cut to your measurements, backed by our Perfect Fit Guarantee.

WHAT IT IS

What the Pocket Tailor does

The Pocket Tailor takes your body measurements with your phone's camera, so you can order made-to-measure tailoring without coming in to our Sydney studio. You stand in front of the phone while it captures you from the front and the side. Our processing turns those captures into a mesh model of your body, and the model gives our tailors the measurements they cut from. You get a measurement code to enter with your order, and we keep your measurements on file for the next one. The app uses AI and augmented reality, and the technology is patent pending.

THE SCAN

How to measure yourself for a suit

  1. What to wear

We advise compression gear, or the closest-fitting clothes you own. The app reads the outline of your body, so the closer your clothes sit, the better.

  2. Set up the phone

Stand your phone upright on a table, open the app and step back until your whole body is in frame, about 1.8 metres away. Then follow the prompts on screen.

  3. Front capture

Face the phone and match the pose shown on screen, with your feet apart and your arms held away from your body. The app scans as you hold it.

  4. Side capture

Turn side-on to the phone when the app asks, and hold the second pose it shows you.

  5. Your code

Enter your height and weight, and the app generates your measurement code. If a capture fails its checks, you will be asked to take it again.

AFTER THE SCAN

From scan to order

While you scan, the app reads your phone's gyroscope and, where the phone supports it, augmented-reality tracking. The captures then upload to our processing system, which checks them again before it builds the mesh model.

To order, open a made-to-order product and choose I have a measurement code under Fit. Enter the code and press Check, and the page tells you when it has found your measurements. That option appears only when you are signed out. If you are signed in, place the order, then email the code and your order number to hello@thdr.co and we will attach it. Our team reviews every order before production starts.

Next time, sign in first. The measurements we hold for you apply to the garment automatically, without the code or another scan.

WHO IT SUITS

Who measures this way

A wedding party spread across several cities is the clearest case. Send each groomsman the app. Each one scans at home, and the whole order still comes to one stylist, cut in the same cloth and finished the same way. See our wedding page, and When the wedding party lives in four cities in the Expert Style Hub.

Clients elsewhere in Australia and overseas use it too. Our Redfern studio is by appointment and we tour pop-up fittings through the year, but between visits, or anywhere we don't reach, the app gives us measurements we can cut from. We ship to the destinations offered at checkout.

If you have ordered with us before and your weight or build has changed since, take a new scan. While you are signed in, the product page offers the measurements on file rather than a code field, so email the new code and your order number to hello@thdr.co.

If you would rather not do it alone, book a virtual appointment. It is complimentary, it runs on Zoom, and a stylist walks you through the scan on the call.

PERFECT FIT GUARANTEE

If the fit is wrong

Every made-to-order garment is covered by our Perfect Fit Guarantee. If it doesn't match the measurements and specifications recorded on your order, including a measurement or production error of ours, we put it right at our cost. We choose the remedy, in this order: a remake, an adjustment by us, or reasonable local alterations, agreed with us first and reimbursed up to A$100 per garment. Tell us within 7 days of delivery, with your order number and photos of the garment worn from the front, back and side.

It has limits. It covers one remake or adjustment per garment, and not changes in your body after you were measured or a change of mind about the cut or cloth. Where you supplied your own measurements or declined a fitting and they prove inaccurate, a remake may be chargeable.

PRIVACY

What happens to your scan

The app processes your phone's camera captures to work out your measurements. We collect those measurements, and the capture data that goes with them, when you submit them or link them to an order or account. We use them to make your garments, to handle remakes under the guarantee, and to develop, train, test and improve the measurement technology, including the machine-learning models behind it. Our cloud processing providers include Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, and your measurements go to our workrooms so the garment can be made. We may also de-identify measurement data. Once it no longer identifies you it is not personal information, and the policy lets us use, disclose, license and commercialise it for any purpose.

We keep your measurement profile for future orders and remakes. You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold by emailing hello@thdr.co. The privacy policy sets out the full terms.

QUESTIONS

Measuring with your phone

Do I need a tape measure, or someone to help?
No. The phone stands on a table, and the prompts on screen take you through both captures on your own.

Which phones does it work on?
iPhones on iOS 16.6 or later, and Android phones. The App Store and Google Play listings show whether yours is supported.

How long does it take?
A few minutes, at whatever hour suits you.

What if a capture fails?
The app keeps prompting until it has a capture it can trust, and asks you to scan again if the later checks fail. If you are still stuck, a stylist can take you through it on a virtual appointment.

Do I have to scan before I order?
No. On a made-to-order product page you can also pick a standard size, or choose to be measured at a fitting appointment. Production typically takes about six weeks from order confirmation, plus shipping. If your measurements are still outstanding, the clock starts when we receive them.
