Brown wool trousers woven with a jacquard figure, 345 grams to the metre: a tone-on-tone pattern in the weave that shows in the light and reads as plain brown across a room. A heavy cloth for winter, cut wide with double pleats toward the side seam at 4.4 cm and a 5.1 cm turn-up.
A narrow 3.5 cm waistband closing on a button with no extension, two open back pockets and a straight fly. Brown with this much going on in the cloth wants a plain jacket. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
