Burgundy trousers in a blend that is mostly polyester with wool and a little silk behind it, 300 grams to the metre. The polyester keeps the crease out of the seat on a long day, the wool gives the cloth body, and the silk lifts the burgundy a shade in daylight.
Double pleats fold toward the side seam, 2 cm deep, which is the fuller front of an older kind of trouser and gives real room through the thigh. No pressed crease, so the pleats do the shaping. The fly is straight, and the hem is fixed with a 2.5 cm topstitch. Burgundy sits well with navy and grey, and brings a brown shoe to life. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
