Grey wool flannel, 330 grams to the metre, a cloth with warmth and structure for the cold months. The grey is a warm one rather than a cool slate, and it wears well with brown, navy and cream.
Double pleats fold toward the side seam and run deep, 4.4 cm, which gives real room through the thigh. The waistband is cut in one with the trouser rather than set on as a separate band, so nothing breaks the line at the waist, and it closes on a hook with no extension. Trousers for a roll-neck or an odd jacket through winter. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
