Olive wool trousers, an army green, in a plain worsted from Huddersfield Fine Worsteds at 280 grams to the metre. This is proper English trouser cloth: a dry hand, a clean fall and a colour that deepens rather than fades. Olive sits with navy, tan and grey as easily as khaki and looks more deliberate.
A single pleat toward the side seam, 1.5 cm deep, a narrow 3.5 cm waistband with a rounded front closing on a hook and a button, and a V split at the back of the waist for later alteration. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
