Blue is the colour that works all twelve months. It reads polished enough for business and relaxed enough for a weekend, and it takes a wider range of companion colours and patterns than anything else in the wardrobe.
It is also not one colour. The useful range runs from a Neapolitan blue through a sky blue herringbone to a midnight blue or a classic navy, and each of those is doing a different job.
One shirt, two outfits
The denim popover is the most flexible blue thing we make. It is cut from a bamboo fabric blend, so it is soft, durable and does not crease the way you would expect a denim shirt to. Worn on its own it is a Saturday. Put a neutral jacket and chinos with it and it is a Thursday meeting. Same shirt.
Texture does more than shade
Blue is a common choice for weddings, business and casual wear, which means the way to make yours specific is texture rather than a slightly different blue. The blue windowpane suit has a drawstring waist and a heavier cloth, so it stays structured while being genuinely comfortable. A navy seersucker with a white popover moves from day to evening without a change of clothes.
On cloth: 100% merino wool holds shape and lasts. If you want more give, a merino and spandex blend moves with you. Our stylists will walk you through the range rather than making you guess.
The winter piece
An overcoat is the investment end of this. A navy overcoat in a merino and cashmere blend over a charcoal herringbone suit covers most formal occasions you will face in a cold month, and the same coat over a denim popover, a windowpane jacket and tan chinos covers the rest.
Then the small things
A blue tie and a pair of cufflinks is the quietest signal of attention to detail there is. A cobalt velvet bow tie is a louder one. Both are worth having.
