Suits

A THEODORE suit starts with its cloth, chosen from the books of thirty fabric houses in the studio library. Whatever you settle on is cut to your measurements and no one else's.

Made-to-measure suits at 88 Pitt Street

The studio is a sandstone terrace in Redfern, iron lace on the verandah and two fireplaces inside. You choose your cloth from a chesterfield with the book open in your lap, then hold the swatch up to the sash window to see it in the Sydney light the suit will be worn in.

We cut more from Stylbiella than from any other house, a Biella name whose cloth goes only to made-to-measure tailors. The wool is fine in the hand and strong enough to be worn hard. For colour we look south, to Ariston, a Neapolitan house. One of its checks, a red Super 130s wool, becomes a double-breasted suit on six buttons, with a Milanese buttonhole.

Our suits are half-canvassed. Inside, the canvas moves with you and in time takes on your shape. Tailors finish each one by hand, pick stitching included, and the cuffs have working buttonholes. If a suit does not sit as it should, we put it right at our cost under the Perfect Fit Guarantee. Appointments at the studio are complimentary and private.
