Scott wanted purple
He arrived at the Surry Hills studio knowing one thing.
I went in knowing only one thing, and that was that I wanted to wear purple. Bright, deep, Joker-esque purple. The classics of a tux or a blue suit felt a little too tame and though green was the new seasonal favourite, I also knew I didn't want to dress with the trends.Scott, married 2024
What he noticed next is the part we are proudest of. "I could tell that the team at THEODORE was perhaps surprised by my colour choice but no one tried to talk me out of it or suggest something that wasn't me. It was a very no bad ideas approach and I loved it." He brought his closest friends, they had a few drinks, and they discovered together that purple is not the easiest colour to match. The stylist looking after them took the whole afternoon in her stride.
He was also honest about the fear, which most people are too polite to say out loud.
I don't wear suits for a living and typically only wear them once or twice a year. I was nervous about wearing it poorly or paying too much and showing up in a baggy awful outfit. I'm so happy that this wasn't the case.Scott
Matthew was getting married in Italy
He and Katherine decided to elope, with a Tuscan sunset in mind, and he arrived asking for a light coloured linen suit. We talked him out of it.
Not out of linen, out of pure linen. A 100% linen suit is difficult to travel with and difficult to care for, and a suit that spends two days in a suitcase before the wedding is a suit you will be ironing in a hotel room. We put him into a linen blend that gave him the look he wanted and survived the flight.
The detail he remembers is smaller than the cloth. "I've always been someone who likes to cuff the legs of my pants, so even achieving that small detail made it feel like it was special to me."
Angus and Grace had the date stitched inside
Angus had never had anything made. "I was a bit nervous and overwhelmed at all the choices I had. However, after our first few minutes in the THEODORE studio we felt absolutely at home with the team." He put that down to his stylist, and specifically to not being pushed: guided by what she knew, rather than sold to.
By the time of the wedding we had started making womenswear, so Grace had a custom jacket of her own, cut close to his. Both had their initials and the wedding date embroidered on the inside, and they were photographed together in them during golden hour.
Knowing that the suit fit so well actually calmed my nerves a little, and being able to see myself and my groomsmen looking probably the best we have in our whole lives is something that I'll absolutely treasure.Angus, photographed by House of Lucie
