An appointment runs at your own pace. Your stylist measures you by hand, asks what the garment actually has to do, and lays lengths of cloth over your shoulder so you can judge the colour against your own skin rather than on a screen. Cut, lining, buttons and finish are settled while you sit there, and the garments are then made to your own numbers.
Two kinds of booking come up more than any other. One is a wedding: bring the party along and the whole group is measured in the one sitting, which is the straightforward way to have everyone turn up in garments that agree with each other. The other is the working wardrobe, the suit that gets worn most and the jacket that has to hold its shape through long hours.
