Charcoal trousers in pure wool, 285 grams to the metre. The charcoal is a dark grey with a slightly cool cast, plain all over, and it sits easily with a white shirt, a pale blue oxford or a brown knit.
A single pleat folds toward the side seam, 4.4 cm deep and finished with a fine topstitch along its edge, giving the relaxed cut its room through the thigh. The 4.5 cm waistband runs into a rounded extended tab that closes on two buttons and two hooks. There is one belt loop only, set 2 cm from the front on the right, so the waist is meant to be worn without a belt. The fronts are lined, the front pockets are edged with 0.6 cm pick stitching, and the back pockets are double-welt with no button. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
