Blue cotton trousers, a clear mid blue rather than navy, in a light stretch cotton at 195 grams to the metre. The colour sits between denim and sky and takes white, cream and grey without effort; it is a trouser for daylight rather than dinner.
Flat front, no pressed crease. The fly closes on a metal zip behind a straight fly; the waistband on a single button with no extension. Front pockets slanted at 3.2 cm, besom back pockets with a button, and a fixed hem topstitched at 2 cm. Light, plain and correct. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
