Khaki trousers in a stretch nylon at 171 grams to the metre: light, resilient and dry within the hour. The khaki is a true field tone, greener than sand, and the nylon gives it a faint sheen that plain cotton khaki never has.
Flat front, a 4 cm waistband that closes on a hook with no extension, front pockets slanted at 2.5 cm and welted back pockets left without a button. The kind of trouser that goes on a long-haul flight and straight into a meeting. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
