Khaki shorts with a fine stripe in a light cotton and polyester cloth, 145 grams to the metre, which is about the lightest a tailored short can be and still hold a crease. The stripe is close and tonal. These are the shorts for the hottest weeks, worn with a linen shirt or a plain tee.
Flat front, front pockets slanted at a generous 5.1 cm, besom back pockets with a button and a 5 cm hem. Cut to your measurements, so the length sits exactly where you want it above the knee.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
