Plain taupe worsted at 280 grams to the metre, cut as a casual jacket: a three-season weight in a warm grey with brown in it. Taupe sits between grey and brown, which is why it works with navy trousers as well as charcoal ones.
No chest canvas, an unpadded natural shoulder and a 2.5 cm stitched hem. Soft enough to wear as a layer, sharp enough to wear as a jacket. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
