White gilet in a wool cloth with linen and silk, 310 grams to the metre, for the cool end of summer and the warm end of winter. The linen dries the surface, the silk lights it, and the wool means it holds its shape over a shirt.
No chest canvas, an unpadded natural shoulder and a 2.5 cm stitched hem. White over navy or over a pale blue shirt. Cut to your measurements.

Steam rather than wash, and press under a cloth. Rest it a day between wears on a shaped hanger. Dry-clean sparingly; once or twice a season is plenty.
